Hello Ladies,
My name is Mary Rettig. This blog will focus on creating a journaling practice for women.
Sometimes, life can be hard and challenging.
This blog focuses on journaling and other self-care strategies. Journaling can be a powerful self-help tool, helping lower blood pressure, heart rate, and stress levels.
It can help people with ADHD focus, and can help with mental health. It feels better, and it helps with depression and anxiety.
Here is what works for me
I am learning time management techniques and experimenting with what works for me. Time boxing works for me. It is easy. Just use a timer (the best timers are visual ones that let you see the time passing by) and set it for a time that works for me. Personally, I like 10 or 15 minutes.
I love to exercise, but I often get bored with the same old stuff. I like the result of exercise, specifically how I feel after doing it. It is excellent for mood disorders, stress, and anxiety. It helps people with ADHD to focus and stimulate their brains.
Exercise does take away the need for meds for mental disorders, but it has a lot of benefits. It’s beneficial to supplement medication and therapy.
I just learned to add a reward after exercise, or pair it with music, books, or a podcast.
I love to journal. I mostly do brain dumping, which is getting what’s on my mind onto paper. I love paper journaling.
But you do what works for you. Journaling on your device is fine. The key is the journal. There are so many techniques.
A light box may be suitable for people who have mild seasonal-based depression. I am not a mental health professional; please discuss this with one if needed.
Here is a SELF-CARE plan I have come up with.
Support: Is so important for your mental, health and well well being.
Eating well: health balance meals.
Laughter: I use humor to deal with life difficulties and challenges.
Free time: Schedule time for yourself to do what you enjoy.
Calm breaths: (learn several breathing techniques.)
Accept what you can not change. Write a list including other people.
Record/journaling
Exercise: (Just move your body.) Any type of movement is good.
